
Vocational Evaluations
Vocational
Evaluations are detailed analysis of work and vocational
issues. A thorough work history is obtained by interview
and records review to determine skills and abilities an
individual possesses. Consultation with the former
employer is beneficial to determined job performance,
work behaviors, adaptability, ability to learn new tasks
and skills, and the specific job performed. Education,
certification and licenses acquired are reviewed; in
some cases, school records can be obtained for analysis.
Determination of the individual's methods of learning or
acquiring new skills is reviewed. Longevity on the job,
changing jobs, and reasons for leaving employment are
thoroughly assessed as part of the work pattern. Methods
of job search and the ability to obtain employment are
discussed and analyzed.
The Vocational Evaluation will incorporate skills,
abilities, and demonstrated experience to determine work
opportunities. These evaluations determine employment
opportunities, job availability, and earnings.Vocational
Evaluations are performed:
- Worker
Compensation: This evaluation is called Ability
to Work Assessment and incorporates injury-specific
information
- Personal
Injury: An evaluation can be performed just for
vocational matters; however, when it is due to an
injury, it is more likely to be
Disability
Evaluation.
- Long-Term
Disability: This type of evaluation is to
determine job availability and opportunity in
consideration of the disabling condition, and the
residual earning capacity. Based on the policy
limits, recommendations can be made for additional
services or training to restore the individual's
earning capacity, such as
Work
Retraining.
- Marriage
Dissolution: This evaluation incorporates the
above, but carefully considers additional factors:
relocation because of spouse, effect on career
advancement and earning capacity, or longevity out
of the work force. See

Vocational Evaluations
are performed by records review, an interview with the
individual, and research. A comprehensive written report
is provided.
